Joe White, the visionary behind Catalyx came to South Africa in 1996 from California, USA. Through the youth initiative Youth With a Mission (YWAM), he joined a ship called the Mercy Ship from Madagascar.
At the age of 18, he originally planned to fill a gap year, but instead his philanthropic work led him to fall in love with KZN and its people.
Joe lived in a township within the Valley of a 1000 Hills where he started numerous community social initiatives, and it was where his non-profit work was birthed.

In 2002, Joe started World Changers Academy. Through WCA programmes, about 50 0000 youth were trained in the Durban surrounding areas in life skills and leadership skills.

Joe recognized the need to support corporates in understanding and fulfilling their social economic responsibilities and together with his best friend, Karabo Che Mokoape, Catalyx Consulting started in 2011.

In a significant move in December 2020, Catalyx acquired Mindgame Escape, a well-established provider of immersive escape room experiences. By integrating Mindgame Escape’s expertise and innovative approach to escape room adventures, Catalyx aimed to enrich its offerings, offering customers a broader array of immersive and thrilling experiences.

In October 2022, Catalyx acquired Bluff Personnel, a reputable staffing and recruitment agency. This strategic acquisition aimed to bolster Catalyx’s position in the market and expand its range of services. By integrating Bluff Personnel’s expertise and extensive network, Catalyx sought to enhance its recruitment capabilities and provide comprehensive HR solutions to clients, offering them tailored staffing solutions and facilitating the formation of high-performing teams.
