I am a social entrepreneur, and I discovered my passion when I moved to South Africa from California, USA in 1996. This passion has led me to establish 9 organizations, most of which exist today. These organizations include Catalyx (design and management of social impact projects), World Changers Academy (leadership, life skills training, job placement) and VukAfrica Tours (cultural tourism) and others.
I sincerely believe in mentoring people to help them reach their full potential and as such I have supported many budding entrepreneurs. I am passionate about community and my work premises on finding solutions to combat social challenges such as unemployment and enterprise development.

I am a Pastor, Business, and Community leader. I believe in negotiating transformation, providing opportunity, and encouraging people to grow and this has been what drives my passion for more than 10 years.
I also spent a number of years engaging communities on the transformation of the mind and heart in the matter of race relations, education inequality, social and economic class structures and bridging the gap between these groups.

SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER
I manage various projects and other operational aspects for Catalyx.
I hold qualifications in Senior Management Development through GIBS University of Pretoria; a Post-Graduate Diploma in Project Management, Bachelor Business Administration Degree, a Diploma in Human Resource Management and I am a qualified Assessor and Moderator with the Services SETA.
An artist by talent, I have a colorful career which started in textile design in 1997. My career then expanded from a Skills Development Facilitator into HR management since 2005. I then transitioned into project management from 2012 where I managed projects that aimed at developing fashion entrepreneurs to build sustainable businesses, thereby contributing to the Clothing and Textile industry and job creation.
I am enthusiastic about social transformation and have served on the executive committee of two Not for Profit Organizations.

JUMPSTART NATIONAL PROJECT MANAGER
I lead the national JumpStart team, which is responsible for delivering training and meeting employment demands for the JumpStart partners.
I studied Civil Engineering but found no passion for the industry and pursued a career in Customer Relations, Business Management and Operations, which gave opportunities for me to train and develop staff. This became my chosen career path which led to getting an accreditation as an Assessor, an Advanced Business Management certificate, and Life Coaching Practitioner certificate from the Academy of Modern Applied Psychology.
With working experience in organizations such as Edcon, Blake and Associates, SENTEC and Smollan, I have accumulated knowledge of business and people management and have experience in Retail, Sales, Call Center Team management, Administration Management, Production Management, Training and Development, Coaching and B Band Recruitment. I was also responsible for creating the mobile radio control racing car concept for parties and business team building in 2007 which made headlines in the Sunday Times. In 2012 I was invited to a recognition lunch with former US President Bill Clinton for youth development in SA through the programs managed by Smollan.

SENIOR ADMINISTRATOR
As the Senior Administrator for the Catalyx Group, I oversee the HR, Administration and Finance team. I hold an Honours Degree in BCom Supply Chain Management, and I have over 8 years of professional working experience within the private sector. My experience includes administration and operations management and human resources administration.
I enjoy watching sport and entertaining my family as a stand-up comedian.
PROJECT MANAGER – NPC INTERCEMENT
With over 18 years’ entrepreneurial experience, I have experienced both the lows and highs of starting my own business. This has helped me develop proven systems and gain much experience in the operating and managing of a small business.
As the manager for the NPC project, I am better equipped to empower emerging enterprises and as a result, provide our funders with total peace of mind that the programme will be implemented efficiently, cost-effectively with the greatest possible impact and return on investment.
My industry accolades include South African PET-trepreneur of the year 2012 and working with ABI to establish a recycling programme for Pretoria Township Schools.
I also worked with the eThekwini Municipality on the Homeless Shelter Scooter Driver Programme as a project leader for the implementing partners Catalyx and Lula Rides.

My name is Amy Maxwell and I have a passion for loving my life and everything I do. Work is 80% of your life, if you do not like your job that’s 80% of your life you are unhappy. I do not live for the weekends as I have a passion for my job.
I have a degree in Foundation Phase Teaching, and I absolutely love children. Learning different teaching techniques has helped me greatly in managing my team. I take a lot of pride in my work and my team.
I love animals and my hobbies include walking on the beach front and swimming for fitness. My great people skills come through in my work and personal life as I get along with anyone and everyone.

Afro’s Chicken Pavilion Managing Director
Nontobeko (Nonto) is a young entrepreneur, who has spent
most of her career in the hospitality sector at junior and management levels.
She has also worked as a cleaner, an electrician’s assistant, a promoter and a
model. She hails from humble beginnings in KwaNgcolosi in the Valley of 1000
Hills and was proud to have built her own home when she was only 23 years old
through hard work and perseverance. 10 years later, she fulfilled her dream of
entrepreneurship by opening her first restaurant, Afro’s Chicken at The
Pavilion Shopping Centre, in Durban, in partnership with Joe White and Catalyx.
She believes that “You should leave footprints of
kindness where ever you go. Rainbows will follow.”
ADMINISTRATOR
Thulani holds a Business Management qualification and has 4 years business administration professional experience. He lends support to all project teams by ensuring that they have the necessary resources to carry out their objectives.
BOOKKEEPER
Ntombikazi holds a BCom Finance Management Degree and has 5-years finance administration and bookkeeping experience. She maintains the day-to-day bookkeeping of the Catalyx Group and projects’ budgets. She further ensures legal compliance is adhered to as per SARS regulations and accounting practices.
DATA ANALYST AND I.T. SUPPORT
A previous chemical engineer, my passion moved over to IT and further specialising in data analytics. Studying afresh, I completed my Bachelor of Computer and Information Sciences with Summa Cum Laude and finally a Post Graduate Diploma in Data Analytics with Cum Laude. Soon after completing my studies I joined the Catalyx Foundation team and fulfilled the role as Data Analyst for Jumpstart with a supporting role in online admin and website management/troubleshooting. As the sole analyst, I work closely with the Jumpstart team and Mr Price Foundation to gather, clean and collate all the national data in order to produce reports to develop insights, improvements and solutions.
CATALYX NATIONAL TRAINING COORDINATOR
& LIMPOPO REGIONAL MANAGER
I’m an instrument of transformation and an advocate for personal development and optimism. My passion is in creating and assisting people in developing themselves and creating an irrevocable positive mindset.
I currently hold two Diplomas in Financial Management and Management Assistant. I have 6 years’ experience in Personal Development, Work readiness and Life Skills training. I have been involved in other social development projects such Tongaat Hulett’s SSIP project, Absa’s Ready to Work and YESForYouth projects and the JumpStart project.
As a creative, I have also acquired skills, knowledge & experience in Marketing focusing on Social Media Marketing.
My current role involves but is not limited to the coordination and reporting of national training, curriculum evaluation and design and train the trainer sessions.
REGIONAL MANAGER – EASTERN CAPE
I am a qualified engineer who followed my passion in Skills, Education, and Employment Development (SEED) projects. I joined Catalyx in 2014 and it has been an extremely fulfilling journey especially when I hear some great stories of JumpStarters who have progressed in their careers.
My personal project is a registered NPO called Fresh Hope and through this we assist rural and township learners with excellent learning support material, bursaries, career guidance and digital literacy skills.
My goal is to have a property that can accommodate up to 12 unemployed youth and provide them with access to JumpStart training to improve their employability status.
ASSISTANT REGIONAL COORDINATOR – EASTERN CAPE
I am a young man from Port Elizabeth, and I started working for Catalyx as an intern in 2016 and obtained my National Diploma in Business Management in 2017. I was then appointed permanently as a Training Administrator and in 2020 I was promoted to Assistant Regional Coordinator. My goals are to obtain my Degree in Business management and grow further within Catalyx.
I enjoy the work that we are doing and making a difference in young people’s lives by equipping them with job skills and creating opportunities for others.
REGIONAL MANAGER – Free State & Northern Cape
I have a passion for igniting visions to life through skills development, increasing youth employability and sparking the flame of entrepreneurship in communities that are economically overlooked. I believe that social enterprises have a huge role to play in youth and economic development which will have a ripple effect in combatting social ills.
I’m a Marketing Management (UP) graduate, have a Skills Development Facilitator certificate and completed an online Diploma in Design Thinking. I believe that I need to constantly improve myself, my skills and my knowledge as a champion of change.
I love facilitating and co-creating learning and go the extra mile to ensure that candidates engage well with the material, interact well with the group and are able to practically apply the learned knowledge to solve problems, improve themselves and change their lives.
REGIONAL MANAGER – GAUTENG WEST & MIDRAND
I am a BCom Business Management graduate who has extensive retail background, specifically in Planning and Marketing. I am passionate about social development and have been involved with the JumpStart program as a facilitator since 2015 and I now manage the Gauteng Region.
REGIONAL MANAGER – GAUTENG EAST & MPUMALANGA
I started working at Catalyx as an intern in 2016 and I am now the regional manager for Gauteng East and Mpumalanga.
I obtained a National Diploma in Human Resource Management from Ekurhuleni West College and a Diploma in Professional Secretary. I also hold a Diploma in English and Gramma. I am also a qualified Assessor and Facilitator.
I am constantly wanting to learn, and I study online courses such as Coding and I look forward to furthering my undergraduate studies
REGIONAL MANAGER – Pretoria & North West Province
I have been with the company for 7 years and as a regional manager, I manage a team of about 3 staff members.
I hold a National Diploma in Human Resource Management from Ekurhuleni West College and a Bachelor Business Administration from MANCOSA. I am looking forward to furthering my studies in the business leadership faculty (Honors in Business Administration).
I also serve as a volunteer at the Lindokuhle Home and day-care for children with disabilities and I am also a member in the Futurelead programme as a business leader mentee.
REGIONAL MANAGER – KWAZULU NATAL NORTH
I realized my passion for community development at 16 years old when I joined World Changers Academy. The programs and skills facilitated really changed my perception of the world holistically.
I am a Business Management graduate with the London School of Business through CTI Education group and I’m also a SETA Accredited facilitator. I have, for the past 5 years held the role of project administrator at iThuba with a primary focus on opportunity linkages for employment and SMME development, promoting economic inclusion with local projects, building and maintaining stakeholder relationships, facilitating work readiness and other training and development opportunities within iThuba communities.
I really find it amazing how my passion has turned into a career opportunity where I have even been presented with extraordinary growth within Catalyx. Indeed, the sky is the limit!
REGIONAL MANAGER – KWAZULU NATAL SOUTH
I am an accredited Facilitator, Assessor and Moderator and I also hold a National Diploma in Human Resource Management. During my 2-years at Love Life, I worked as a (Ground Breaker) Facilitator.
I believe in community development and my goal is to open my own Pre-school in a rural community to empower and develop disadvantaged children. I want to also cater to the needs of children with disabilities and I am learning sign language.
REGIONAL MANAGER – WESTERN CAPE
I have been active in the non-profit sector since 2003. I have cultivated extensive experience in non-profit leadership and management and hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from UCT GSB and a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Henley Business School.
I am passionate about development, education and social justice and firmly believe in the importance of facilitating access to opportunities that foster positive growth within individuals and communities. I have a strong desire to give back and actively serve on the boards of two non-profit organizations.
ASSISTANT REGIONAL COORDINATOR – WESTERN CAPE
I am a motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Regional Coordinator for the Western Cape Jumpstart program. With a Management Assistant qualification from Northlink College and a proven track record in office administration, project management and team management, I am accustomed to working in a challenging, fast-paced environment.
I thrive when dealing with multiple projects and priorities at the same time and further excel in working with others toward achieving objectives on time and with excellence. I am passionate about development and always make use of opportunities to improve myself.
