Catalyx implements the JumpStart project in all provinces within South Africa and in Swaziland. Launched in 2007, JumpStart is funded by the Mr Price Foundation and SPAR Group and focuses on training unemployed youth in Life Skills / Work Readiness and placing them into work experience and employment within the Mr Price Group and Spar Group.
This implies that Catalyx has engaged with communities in every town where a store exists from Mr Price Division i.e., Mr Price Sport, Home, Apparel, Sheet Street, Milady’s, Power Fashion and from the SPAR Group including Build It Stores.
Catalyx also manages the life skills training of unemployed youth entering the manufacturing industry. The JumpStart project trains between 4 000 – 6 500 youth per year of which over 50% gain employment with JumpStart employers partners and potentially a further 20% are employed elsewhere.
